The goal of most, if not all, modded clients is to focus primarily on adding “Dedicated Servers” support. The private match feature, which allows clients to play custom games with friends, is usually supported but to a lesser extent, as it is not the main focus.
Unfortunately, in T7x, this feature is completely bare-bones and untested. Like all AlterWare (multiplayer-only) clients, you can only hot-join a match using a direct connection via the /connect console command. This means the host (the group leader) must do a few things:
-
Know which network port the game is using.
-
Forward that port on their router.
-
Share their private IP and port with friends.
Then, their friends can join the game after it is already in progress.
This is the case for most multiplayer Call of Duty clients, not just AlterWare, as the lobby system is not implemented by these clients. Dedicated Servers take full priority.
Here is what you can do:
-
Try the hot-joining process on T7x.
-
If it does not work, as a last resort, you may find an empty server and populate it with your friends, or simply host one yourself (port forwarding is always required if hosting from your personal computer).
-
Make sure the dedicated server is opened before any other instances of T7 (like the actual multiplayer game) are launched, so the network ports do not conflict.
Finally, it may be easier to start a private match on Steam with T7Patch running.
Thank you for your understanding.
